Early Life, from Golmore to the Dalmascan Resistance
Born and raised in the village of Muscadet, Viola was still young for a grown Viera when a band of Dalmascan resistance fighters took shelter on the edge of Golmore. Youthful curiosity won out over the Green Word's laws and, rather than run them off, Viola soon found herself instructing the wayward Dalmascans on how to avoid the Wood-Warder perimeters and hunts. In return, they told her about the world beyond and, despite her strict upbringing, Viola and the rebels became fast friends over the course of their visits.
As the months went by, it was only a matter of time before her village learned of her secretive trips to the edge of the Wood. A wood-warder led assault saw the resistance fighters quickly and gruesomely forced from Golmore, while Viola's sisters dragged her home to answer for herself. Though her sisters insisted she should lie and claim she had been kidnapped, Viola took her exile gracefully and left of her own free will.
Beyond the borders of the wood, Viola found the remainder of her Dalmascan friends waiting for her. Feeling responsible for her exile, their leader offered her a place among their ranks. With nowhere else to go, she accepted and was soon swept up in Clan Delima's efforts against the Garleans. In time, the clan became her new family and Golmore became a distant, bittersweet memory. She quickly became part of Marsil's inner circle, often seen alongside him and Mujika in Rabanastre and beyond.
For the next ten years, Viola served alongside her clanmates in their clandestine operations. Specializing in "diversion and delivery" they posed as a Rabanastran hunters' clan to provide cover for various resistance ops around Dalmasca and run messages between the other sects. From the outside, nothing seemed amiss as the clan operated out of their pub.
Post Stormblood/Return to Ivalice
Emboldened by the successes Doma saw in throwing off the Garlean yoke and winning their freedom, Viola stood alongside Clan Delima as they rose up against their overlords. The attempted rebellion was swiftly snuffed out, with the IVth Legion razing Rabanastre in one fell swoop with their airships. The clan lost most of their numbers in just a few hours, with most never being recovered from the rubble. The six survivors - Marsil, Kutok, Mujika, Viola, Myrmidia, and Kin - took shelter in the vast waterways beneath Rabanastre alongside Lente's Tears and the other surviving sects.
Clan Delima survived in name only as the remnants put their logistical knowledge and martial prowess behind Lente's Tears. Viola continued her efforts with far more caution, escorting Dalmascan refugees to Doma and Eorzea before returning to Rabanastre to continue the fight.
Post Shadowbringers/Bozjan Resistance
As the fighting between the Bozjan Resistance and the IVth legion began in earnest on Bozja's Southern Front, Viola returned to her clan as Dalmasca's resistance forces rose up to force the legion into a battle on two fronts. Eager to prove her allies' deaths at Rabanastre weren't for nothing, Viola joined the efforts at Nalbina Fortress and Zadnor, finally pushing back the IVth Legion to retake Dalmasca and Bozja from the Garleans' clutches.
Viola returned to Rabanastre alongside the survivors of Clan Delima, set on rebuilding their home and salvaging whatever was left of it. Soon after, Marsil departed Dalmasca on a personal quest, while Mujika returned to his birthplace of Doma to reconnect with long lost relatives. Viola remained with Kutok to rebuild their clan and train the next generation of hunters, protecting Dalmasca the only way she knew how.
Endwalker and Beyond
Viola remained in Rabanastre for a time before she joined the Ilsabard Contingent at the behest of Lente's Tears. Despite her disdain for the Garlean Empire, she accompanied them as a healer and logistics specialist through to the Final Days.
After returning briefly to Rabanastre to check in and learning of the blasphemies in her own home city, she offered her aid to the Black Lions and assisted them in flushing one out of the waterways. At Commander Barjzhan's request, she accompanied them through their subsequent efforts in Corvos. When news reached them of the burning skies over Garlemald, she returned to aid the Ilsabard Contingent once more.
Viola worked herself tirelessly in Garlemald, wearing herself thinner with each passing moon. It was only once Marsil returned from his own quest that she left once more, returning home to his side and committing herself to Rabanastre's restoration.
Now, Viola is once again a Rabanastran staple, often found either helping with humanitarian efforts in Rabanastre or assisting clan hunters in the wild. As the clan's resident Hunter-Scholar, she is committed to studying any and all monstrous threats that may be a danger to her people, from standard fiends to the lucavi themselves.
