Sali was born to an udgan and a beastmaster, growing up with his sister Ilakha in a Malqir village surrounding Druk Monastery. Named for the dragon said to give the Malqir their writing script, it houses a library, exposing him to a love of reading. His collection of tomes from the Kha expanded, as did his fascination for one topic: botany. Though he fancied the scholarly world heavily, as Malqir are wont to do, his talents as a spiritcaller and healer sent him to the battlefield frequently. Love and loss have led him to feel jaded about violence, though his dedication to his crafts have never wavered.
Nowadays, he works as a medical botanist with the Botanists' Guild. This employment has taken him around the world with his companion Fane at his side.
Personality
Attitude
As oppose to spreading them, he guards his views passionately, harboring a sarcastic nature. Typically cool and calm, he holds a serious demeanor when it comes to his work as a healer. The son of a veterinarian and a midwife, he utilizes magicks he's inherited from his udgan mother in much of his duties. Considering battle more of something to be avoided if possible, even a nuisance, his pursues more domestic interests in his career.
Sociability
Polite but distant to many strangers, both his true people and his past have contributed to his slowness in opening up, much less trusting others. His typical neutrality has simultaneously attracted and put off others. Still, he shows a gentleness to his allies to repay the loyalty, even if it seems to outsiders that his own is fickle.
Expressiveness
Though one to keep to himself, he's used a stern outlook to help persuade his allies to act out in what he believes are their best interests. A side of warmth is portrayed to friends, yet his worry is never concealed. Instead of fretting, he reacts to his concerns with preparedness, ensuring that failure cannot be a possibility.
Moks Heritage
( Headcanons ahead; others are welcome to follow or not follow them as they like! )
No banners, no colors, no shrines; a people entirely invisible, revering stillness and silence. Opposing war and following their own gods, they feigned assimilation to a larger Xaela society. From there, they repeated the process again and again, hiding among numerous others. When two of them meet, they exchange a subtle, lone sign to greet one another, its meaning a simple '(I am) Moks'.
Whether a child is born of or adopted into the Moks, this secret language is theirs to know. For their society may be small, but as one, they are many.
Religion
They worship the Dawn Father, the Dusk Mother, and local spirits as many other Xaela do. However, they also worship minor gods such as Sky Sons and Earth Daughters. Sky Sons are associated with healing and Earth Daughters with protection. They also worship Shades, of whom are associated with offensive magic, especially poisons and illnesses. However, calling upon them in excess may dampen one's relationship with the Sky Sons and Earth Daughters. This could have the potential effect of losing one's ability to heal, if not balanced properly.
There is no preference for whether their spiritual leaders are male or female, but they may only become one through familial lineage or deafness. Rites and rituals are performed in silence, a concept sacred to the Moks, as to lift up the soundless voices of the spirits. As such, deafness is considered a blessing.
